Intermediate Festival 2008

Well this is our second ever intermediates festival here at White Acres and we are already pleased that the numbers have grown since last year. Once again the festival has been generously sponsored by Preston Innovations who have donated some amazing prises for these young anglers, as well as Coca Cola whose sponsorship we have also put into the prizes.

This year we are using both sides of Twin Oaks for the festival, as we felt on recent matches this lakes had proven to be fishing better that Canal so we were anticipating some great weights.

14 anglers fished the festival this year and this is a brief report on how they got on. We are eventually looking to get all the intermediates who fished the festival involved so we can get a bigger picture of how the match went for them so stay tuned for more info. If you did fish the festival and I have not yet contacted you please email me and I can tell you what we are looking for so I can get all of your reports onto the web site.

Day One

Well the two-day festival has begun and the young anglers were keen to make their draw to see what sections they were in and where they would be fishing. This year to make things a bit more interesting we did not do the draw in advance like our other festivals but instead put all the pegs in the bag so they drew their own sections which added to the excitement of the weekend. Once the pegs/sections were drawn they were off.

A Section

Twin Oaks 1- 18
The weights to day were very impressive especially for the lake winner Michael Gorman, Michael caught 8 carp on the pellet waggler and had the rest at 6 meters on the pole with meat for a weight of 107lb 5oz from peg 18. Second with 89lb 12oz was Luke Hancock on peg 12, Luke fished the bomb with pellet.

Section Winners
Michael Gorman peg 18 7 points 107lb 5oz
Luke Hancock peg 12 6 points 89lb 12oz

B Section

Twin Oaks 19 – 36
William Buckie was the match winner on the high numbers with 63lb 3oz; Will was on peg 26 and caught on the straight lead with meat. Second was Alex Walker on peg 32 with 49lb 12oz.

Section Winners
Will Buckie peg 26 7 points 63lb 6oz
Alex Walker peg 32 6 points 49lb 12oz

So that was day one, lets see how our leader board looks.

Day Two

Well day one got off to a cracking start so we can only hope for the same again today. The weather conditions these anglers have fished against today have been horrendous we have had, heavy rain, sleet, snow, hail and it’s been mega windy all day!! Despite of this the show must go on and here are the top caches from day two.

A Section Twin Oaks 19 – 36

Section Winners

Luke Hancock peg 26 7 points 55lb 15oz
Frazer Craig peg 32 6 points 45lb

B Section Twin Oaks 1 – 18

Section Winners

Simon Pickering peg 6 7 points 71lb 10oz
Harry Marsh peg 18 6 points 58lb 15oz

So that is how the intermediate festival 2008 went. The prizes sent from Preston were amazing with all the intermediates walking away with a goodie bag containing a super side trays among other items. This is how the final results look but stay tuned for more info when I have been in touch with those that fished the festival.

Thank you once again to Preston Innovations, Coca Cola and to all the anglers and their families for making it such a successful event. As soon as we have the 2009 dates we will post it on our web site.

Cheers, Kirsty
