Preston Innovations Festival 2009
  Fishing Information call 01726 862519

Welcome to our final festival of autumn the White Acres Preston Innovations Festival 2009. This is our most exciting event as the final 24 anglers will qualify for the one day £25,000 Parkdean Masters.

Once again it is a sell out with 19 anglers from last weeks Maver festival taking up the final spots in the field of 180 anglers. The five matches will be fished in rotation this week on Pollawyn, Twin Oaks/Trelawney, Trewaters, Porth & Bolingey.

The weekend has been pretty damp and miserable weather wise so we shall just have to see what happens during the week as it is well and truly nearing winter conditions. There are quite a few anglers (some of whom nursing very sore heads) who are staying on for this week from last but there are also plenty of new arrivals this week eager for the festival to commence and to bag one of the top spots of the festival. Who will be our 2009 Preston champion and which lucky 24 will make it to the grand final, join us for the daily updates.

Join us tomorrow to find out if Lee can make it a fourth section win or if another angler has knocked him off the top spot.

Despite dropping a point Lee is still the festival leader but there a lot of anglers that are snapping at his heels. A section win from some on the final day of the festival could see them swipe the victory. Who will be the Preston Innovations Champion 2009, we shall have to wait until tomorrow to find this out. There are some that know they can't take the festival win but have a chance of making it into the final 24, day five is going to be a nail biter and for some their fortunes will be decided by the draw bag tomorrow. Join us in the morning to find out who is the Preston Innovations Champion is and who will be fishing the £25,000 Parkdean Maters final on Saturday.
Cheers, Kirsty

Day Five

It has all come down to the wire today, with Lee dropping a point yesterday he needs another section win to clinch the festival out right but if it is anything less than 9 points he picks up it will be a completely open book as to who will take the win as it could go a number of ways.

Today was a bit hectic and we didn't get any catch information I'm afraid but here are the top 4 from each lake. With a perfect result of 36 points Lee Edwards is the White Acres Preston Innovations Champion 2009. It has been a great festival; even though the fishing took at turn for worse in the latter part of the week. We would like to send a massive thanks to Preston Innovations & Ricky Teal for once again sponsoring the festival and providing prizes for the top 20.

We would like also to thank 2nd place winner Tommy Pickering who's generosity lead to a domino effect with the top three anglers who all offered up their amazing prizes for just £400 per package and requested that the £1200 that we raised was donated to a children's hospice here in Cornwall, thank you very much Lee, Tommy & Darren the money your raised will be put to very good use.

So that is it for the main autumn festivals, and Saturday is the big finale, the above 24 anglers will battle it out in the £25,000 match to see who will be Parkdean Master 2009. Cheers, Kirsty

Edwards edges it
An almost perfect week enabled Welsh wizard Lee Edwards (Preston Innovations) to top the list in the 2009 Preston Innovations festival at Cornwall bagging Mecca White Acres. A week of bad weather made the fishing difficult, but Edwards managed to find fish and consistency to post four section wins and a second in section to edge out current UK Champion Tommy Pickering (Preston Innovations). Pickering also had four section wins (36 points), but had fewer points to drop from his worst day, so lost out on the top slot.

Edwards qualified for the Preston festival the previous week in the Maver competition, his first festival and kept up his good form to reach the £25,000 winner-take-all Parkdean Masters final. Edwards win is all the more sweet, as he was up against a who's who of big names, which saw former Masters winners Darren Cox (Garbolino) and Steve Ringer (Guru, Shimano, Dynamite Baits) finish third and fourth respectively.

“It was a hard week, as the fishing was affected by the cold rain, which put them off the feed,” said Caerphilly-based Edwards. “I just fished to my strengths and hoped that I could the top 20.”
The other big names qualifying for the change to win the big-money match were five-times world champion Alan Scotthorne andformer Masters winners Harry Billing and Des Shipp.
